DRAWING AND SCULPTING THE FIGURE:

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Even if you have never sculpted, you'll find each of the 8 sessions engaging. Wonderful practice for the artist desiring a refresher in figure modeling (5 full sessions with the live model). A long term pose of the model, resulting in a mid-sized clay rendering, is a special feature of the workshop.The emphasis of this course will be on seeing the proportions of the figure, understanding substructure, attending to the structuring of proportions in the human figure as it moves in space. We will look at basic issues of anatomy, historical precedents, and use materials such as pencil and charcoal on paper, as well as clay. A number of torso sketches in clay will prepare participants for the larger armature building and modeling from a long term pose. Modeling fees, clay and armature materials included. 8 sessions (total 24 hours, 15 hours with live model)
