Carol Lindemulder is a self-taught artist whose first project was making her own paper dolls, their clothes and their houses. Today, she works in oil paints with high transparency on textured linen canvas. She is still doing pastels.

Born in San Diego, California, Lindemulder graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, in (Interior) Design. Her passion for old buildings developed into 25 years of volunteer activities in Historic Preservation in the San Diego community. It also brought about two solo shows of her colored ink drawings of older neighborhoods.

Lindemulder took her first painting class at the graduate level, while earning her living as a designer. It took the fire, which destroyed her home and studio, to fuel her desire to paint seriously. Lindemulder began her professional art career full time in 1993. She moved to Fallbrook in 1998.

In 1997 she was invited to show her work in the national exhibition, "Paintings of the American Landscape", presented by the Howard/Mandville Galleries of Kirkland, Washington. She was invited to show again in 1998 and 1999. Although, her passion is for landscape, Lindemulder is not a plein air painter. Her writings, photographs and subsequent art pieces usually encompass elements of man's mark upon the landscape. Many of her pieces are large (60"). "I like to climb right into my paintings while I work on them."
